eBay UK fee and profit calculator

Last checked 2 October 2026

Pick the category, enter the sale price and postage, and see every fee eBay will charge — line by line. Add what the item and postage cost you, and it shows your profit and margin too. Rates come from eBay’s own published fee schedule for UK sellers.

The sale

Final value fee: 12.9%

eBay charges its fees on the total — item price plus the postage the buyer paid.

Discounts & ads

Promotions cut the variable final value fee only — the fixed per-order fee is excluded unless the promotion names it.

Charged on the item price only, and only when the ad made the sale.

Your costs (optional — unlocks profit)

Leave the item cost blank and we show fees only. We won't treat an empty box as £0 and report a profit you aren't making.

Enter the item price to work out the fees.

Every other field has a sensible default.

Your own store — WooCommerce

No marketplace commission: it is your shop, so nobody takes a cut of the sale. What you pay is your payment gateway — gateway ~2.9% + £0.30. — charged by Stripe, PayPal or whoever you take card payments with, not by Zixo. The postage, packaging and supplier cost are the same as any other sale.

Where these numbers come from

  • • Rates verified against eBay's published UK business-seller schedule, 29 July 2026. eBay changes them — check your own category before you price a big listing.
  • • Fees are charged on the total sale: item price + postage the buyer paid. Tiered categories are charged in portions, so a £1,200 laptop is 6.9% of the first £1,000 and 3% of the rest.
  • • Promoted Listings is charged on the item price only, and only when a sale came from the ad.
  • • This is an estimate of eBay's invoice, not tax advice. Your own VAT position on the sale itself is in the VAT tab.

How eBay UK fees work for business sellers

  • Final value fee: a percentage of the total sale, item plus postage, set by category — 12.9% for “Everything else”, lower in many categories, and banded on expensive items in some (for example 6.9% up to £1,000 then 3% on Mobile & Smart Phones).
  • Per-order fee: £0.30 on orders of £10 or less, £0.40 on orders over £10. It drops to 10p on orders up to £10 in some Collectables and Home, Furniture & DIY categories.
  • Regulatory operating fee: 0.35% of the total sale on every order.
  • International fee when the buyer is abroad: 1.05% for the Eurozone and Northern Europe, 1.8% for the US and Canada, 2% for the rest of the world.
  • VAT: eBay charges UK VAT on its fees to UK business sellers. If you are VAT-registered you can usually reclaim it.

Private sellers

Since 1 October 2024, UK private sellers pay no final value fee and no per-order fee; eBay charges the buyer a Buyer Protection fee instead. eBay’s exceptions: vehicles (eBay Motors has its own fees), more than 300 listings in a month, optional listing upgrades, and delivery outside the UK, which carries a 3% international fee. Switch the calculator to “Private” to see it.

What the calculator does not include

  • Optional listing upgrades and promoted listing fees beyond the rate you enter.
  • eBay’s currency conversion charge, which applies only when a sale has to be converted between currencies — it rises from 2.5% to 2.75% on 1 December 2026.
  • Insertion fees once you go beyond your free listings.

Selling imported goods? The marketplace may also be charging VAT on the sale itself — see the £135 VAT rule. For eBay’s rules on dropshipping, read is dropshipping allowed on eBay UK?, and for every fee in plain English, eBay UK seller fees in 2026.

Price every listing like this, automatically

Zixo Agent uses this same fee table on every listing it drafts, so the price is set against your profit after eBay fees, shipping and VAT — and repricing never drops a listing below the floor you set. See eBay automation.
