eBay UK seller fees in 2026, explained

Last checked 2 October 2026

A business seller on eBay UK pays up to five things on every sale: a final value fee, a per-order fee, a regulatory operating fee, an international fee if the buyer is abroad, and VAT on all of them. Here is how each works.

1. Final value fee

A percentage of the total amount of the sale — the item price plus postage — set by category. “Everything else” is 12.9%; Clothes, Shoes & Accessories is 11.9%; many electronics categories are 6.9% up to £1,000 and 3% above. Some categories charge different rates for different slices of the price, so an expensive item can pay less overall.

2. Per-order fee

A fixed £0.30 on orders of £10 or less, and £0.40 on orders over £10. In some Collectables and Home, Furniture & DIY categories it falls to 10p on orders up to £10.

3. Regulatory operating fee

0.35% of the total amount of the sale, on every order.

4. International fee

Only when the buyer’s address is outside the UK: 1.05% for the Eurozone and Northern Europe, 1.8% for the US and Canada, and 2% for the rest of the world.

5. VAT on the fees

eBay adds UK VAT at 20% to its fees for UK business sellers. If you are VAT-registered you can usually reclaim it; if you are not, it is a real cost and belongs in your pricing.

A worked example

A £20 item with £3 postage in “Everything else”: final value fee 12.9% of £23 = £2.97, per-order fee £0.40, regulatory fee £0.08, and VAT of £0.69 on those fees — £4.14 in total, about 18% of the sale. Try your own numbers in the eBay UK fee calculator.

Private sellers

Since 1 October 2024 UK private sellers pay no final value fee and no per-order fee, except on vehicles, beyond 300 listings a month, for optional upgrades, and on sales abroad (3%). eBay charges the buyer a Buyer Protection fee instead.

What else can cost you

  • Promoted Listings: the ad rate you choose, charged on sales from promoted items.
  • Currency conversion: 2.5% when a sale has to be converted between currencies, rising to 2.75% on 1 December 2026.
  • Falling to Below Standard: eBay’s seller standards allow it to charge higher final value fees — see eBay seller performance standards.

Zixo Agent prices every listing it drafts from this same fee table, after shipping and VAT, so you see your real margin before you publish — see eBay automation.
